St. Patrick Center receives $100,000 from the Annual Catholic Appeal

In St. Louis City, a staggering 24.2% of renter-occupied households spend more than half of their income on rent. This unsustainable reality is a leading cause of homelessness, disproportionately affecting those with lower incomes. Recognizing this critical issue, the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) Affordable Housing Fund is stepping up to address the need for more affordable housing across the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Visitation House, located adjacent to McFarlane Place, another St. Patrick Center Program.

This year, St. Patrick Center, a ministry of Catholic Charities, was one of eight Catholic-affiliated housing agencies to receive funding through the ACA. A $100,000 grant was awarded to renovate the Visitation House, located next to the existing McFarlane Place, into affordable housing units. These units will provide more than just a roof over residents’ heads—they will offer hope and stability through access to case management services as part of our Long-Term Transformation program.

The transformation of Visitation House is currently underway, and once completed, it will serve as a beacon of possibility for individuals and families seeking a fresh start. This initiative aligns with St. Patrick Center’s mission to provide sustainable housing, employment, and healthcare for those in need.

The ACA’s Affordable Housing Fund exemplifies the power of community and collective action. Parishioners across the Archdiocese consistently identify affordable housing and homelessness as top social concerns, and their generosity makes initiatives like this possible.

Together, we’re not just renovating a building—we’re creating opportunities for lives to be transformed and hope to be restored.
